Create & Manage Departments

Learn how to create and manage departments in your workplace.

Depending on the configuration of your access role, you may or may not have access to this feature. Please check with your Admin for access control.

Create Department

There are two ways to create a new department:

Option 1: Create from scratch

  1. Click the Gear ⚙️ icon on your navigation bar > Department

  2. Click + New Department and fill in the Department Name

  3. Select a Parent Department (if any) and fill in a Description (optional)

  4. Click Create when finished

Option 2: Add a sub-department

  1. Click the Gear ⚙️ icon on your navigation bar > Department

  2. Hover on a department and click the + (plus) icon at the bottom-right corner > Fill in a Department Name and Description (optional)

  3. Parent Department is the one you choose to add a sub-department. To change, select from the pre-filled drop-down menu.

  4. Click Create when finished. New Department will be added beneath the chosen Parent Department in the department chart.

Edit Department

  1. Click the Gear ⚙️ icon on your navigation bar > Department

  2. Hover on a department you want to adjust > click Edit at the top right corner

  3. Adjust corresponding fields

  4. Click Save to apply changes

Deactivate Department:

Deactivated departments will be hidden from other modules, but you can still view them in the Department setting.

  1. Click the Gear ⚙️ icon on your navigation bar > Department

  2. Click on the department you want to deactivate and toggle the button to the left side

  3. Click Deactivate to confirm the action

⛔️ Caution: Departments with assigned employees and sub-departments cannot be deactivated. Make sure to transfer or remove them in advance, or you will receive this error message:

Delete a department

  1. Click the Gear ⚙️ icon > Department

  2. Hover on a department you want to adjust > Click Edit at the top-right corner.

  3. Click Delete at the bottom-right of the pop-up

  4. Confirm your action

⛔️ Caution: Departments with assigned employees, jobs, and sub-departments cannot be deleted and will be greyed out. Make sure to transfer or remove them in advance, or you will receive this error message:
